Book Description
It's chic to be geek!

If you're somebody like Shelby Chappelle, a smart, witty, pretty geek army of one, you can't just put a poster up at school and advertise for somebody to be your best friend. But now freakishly tall Becca Gallagher has moved to town, with her dragon tattoo and wild ideas. Suddenly Shelby's mad scientist father and their robot, Euphoria, seem normal. They become best friends instantly. But Becca wants to shake things up at school and look for "others of our kind"...and decides to form the Queen Geek Social Club.

The thing is, this guy Fletcher Berkowitz keeps nosing around, asking lots of questions about the Club. He's cute, and interesting, and possibly likes Shelby. Therefore, she must torture him. One good thing about being a loner: no one can break your heart.

Arrived today! I'm so happy. Just yesterday I was wondering what I had to do to get my hands on some light reading, since I'm swamped in assignments and texts for my classes.
I need a break from all that hard work and I intent to start reading this book tonight.
Thank you for sending it! :)
I'll PM ArabellaFig when I'm half through it.

7 out of 10

Nice, quick, light read; it was a vacation from all the anthopology/archaeology reading I had to do. There were some laugh-out-loud moments too.
It is the story of teenage girl named Shelby and her geeky friends (one of them has my name, which was kind of annoying for me, since I really couldn't relate to her).
They start a club based on the fact that they are not the most popular ones in their highschool and feel that they need to be represented.
There is, of course, a love story that provides a happy ending to the book, but then again, isn't it the way this kind of books work?

I enjoyed this book and liked the characters, it wasn't too serious, a fun quick read, was just a bit disappointed with the ending.

I enjoyed it a lot, had me laughing out loud a few times. Though there were some small things which didn't seem very logical to me.. (Bit hard to explain without spoiling it)

I got Lady-anglophile's addy so the book will soon be send off.

I have about 30 pages left but thought I would give an update on the book.

I forgot to pm princess-peapod until this morning. I will mail her as soon as I get her address.

I started the book before I left on a business trip but didn't really get into it until I started reading on my way home.

I can relate to being a geek - although I preferred nerd. I was not punk, druggie, preppie, jock, etc. I was a decent student who played sports and wanted no part in drugs - so I can relate to these girls - even now in my work environment I see signs of the same high school stuff going on - it is nice to see a geek get an even break.

I look forward to seeing how the Carribean Madness dance goes and how Shelby and Becca survive.

Will journal again once I finish reading.

5 out of 10

Thanks, I should get to it soon.

Update 2 November:
I just finished this one today. I thought it was a cute book. My 10 year high school reunion is coming up and I can't believe it was that long ago. I don't think I would have fit in with the "Queen Geeks." My high school was so different from what I read in books and see on TV/Movies. I love reading these books to bring back that time in my life. :-)
