One of my favourite books. I saw the film and read the book at about the same time.
A Japanese-American is accused of murdering a fisherman from the same island, but the case is mixed up with a shameful episode in the town's past in the aftermath of Pearl Harbour.
Beatifully written, painful at time to read, but so worth it.
