Received in the post today. I've always wanted to read this. Thanks very much!
This is a books that I've been *intending* to read for years - even more so during the past year, when I've actually had a copy! Now I finally have and it's been extremely rewarding. Sally Morgan is very generous sharing a very personal story to give a voice to her Aboriginal heritage. Obviously I know that Aborigines have not been well treated since white settlement, but to hear specifics through the life stores of Arthur, Daisy and Gladys was particularly moving
One of the other reasons I really enjoyed reading this books was that I live about 5 minutes away from Como and Manning, where much of the story is set. It was really interesting to hear descriptions of the area from the 50/60s, when the area was much less developed compared to now.
I'm currently 2 weeks into a 4-week round the world trip, and have selected a stack of BC books to read and then release while I'm away. I'm planning to release this book here London, where I'll be catching up with my UK BC group - I've got a few Aussie themed books to take along and this is one of them.
