Amazon Review:
"A.S. Byatt delivers again in this book, which contains two "novellas." One traces the history/love affairs of a Victorian era naturalist and the other is a stunning and moody story about a woman who belives she has lost her husband at sea. Truly wonderful to read."
"Shimmering beauty and shocking sensuality are the only phrases to adequately describe A.S. Byatt's Angels and Insects."

Claimed from the Oz VBB and now on its way to a new home.
Have been away for a couple of weeks but this was waiting for me when I got home. Thanks very much! I loved 'Possession' and am looking forward to reading 'Angels and Insects' too.
Angels and Insects was a beautiful read - beautifully written and the juxtaposition of the scientific 'insect' story and the spritual 'angel' story was interesting. Overall I liked 'Morpho Eugenia' better (the insect story) better than 'The Conjugal Angel', but the angel story did intrigue me, with it's references to Tennyson and his sisters. I wonder how much was based on fact and how much on speculation
Interestingly a movie has been made of the book, though it only seems to concern the first novella, Morpho Eugenia
