The Road

This story was fantastic. There is so much to say about it that I don't know where to start! It's a very dark tale that is at times gruesome, eerie, heartbreaking and scary. I can see why some readers think this book is depressing, but to me, it's an oddly beautiful story of the love between a father and son, a tale of good vs. evil, and a story of hope and survival. I wasn't sure that I liked the ending, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it was right. This book is so well written that I felt like I was on the road with the man and the boy. The writing is simple and the story reads fast. There are some questions that the author lets each reader answer for himself/herself. I couldn't put this book down.
Serious readers should read this book at least once in their lifetime. I know I'll read it a second time, which is something I don't ordinarily do. It was that intense!

Mailed today to Aberpeter in Washington State. Happy Birthday!
Thanks so much for the birthday RABCK. I cannot wait to read this book. I have heard great things about it.
After hearing from many different people how great the book was and how moving the story is I think I had really high expectations and the book didn't measure up to what I thought it would be. I did enjoy the story and the relationship between the father and his son. I was just expecting more.
