Unabridged audible download on 13 CDs, 15 hours and 31 minutes. Well I loved it! The Lord John stories are their own thing, pretty solidly apart from the regular Outlander series (although we do catch a few brief glimpses of Jamie during the course of this story, but they are very brief). This was my favorite of the Lord John books so far! There's a lot going on, and I feel like I know Lord John much better now then I did before. The plot is full and solid, the setting is fully drawn out (of course!), and the characters are all interesting. Plus the narrator is just right! I enjoyed this from beginning to end, and I really hope Gabaldon continues on with John's story from here! Do be aware that Gabaldon is as full of er...earthy observations and descriptions as always, and that John is a homosexual man open to relationships. If you would be uncomfortable reading about such situations, then this is not the book for you! This isn't a romance novel by genre, but that's not to say there's no romance involved.... In fact, there are a few places where you might want to be careful about who might overhear this audio, lest you contribute too much to their educations! There was one place that was a bit TMI for me -- I haven't looked the same at mushrooms since. Or at least not the morel ones.... Oh, Perseverance! Product description: It is 1758, and the flames of the Seven Years' War are burning hotter than ever. The rigors and dangers of battle are actually a welcome respite for Lord John and his brother Hal, who feel the constant strain of their family's troubled history. Blending war, family secrets, and forbidden love, Gabaldon crafts a suspenseful novel that loyal fans and newcomers alike with find irresistible.

His Lordship took a dip in the Audio VBB but didn't stay long! He's off for a summery sojourn at rannie's place. Happy reading/listening!

Received in today's mail in good condition, and immediately out to the car for tomorrow's commute. :) Thanks for sharing this with me, Kyrissaean! I enjoyed this, but it's more graphic than some may want to hear broadcast from the CD player, so listener beware. Sending on to Ace in the virtual audiobook box.
