I am not sure, but the cover says Brett Davis, and everywhere else says Nancy Davis wrote this book-maybe someone could tell me if Brett Davis and Nancy Davis are the same person, or not?

I started this book, but halfway thru, the story and characters went downhill.

From the Back cover:
"They're short, they're mean, they're in our nation's captial: GET USED TO IT!

It's springtime in Washington D.C., and the denizens of the supernatural world-faeries, elves, centaurs, bigfoots, goblins, gnomes, leprechauns and the lot-are coming to the captial city to sign a historic treaty.

The supernaturals had officially come out of the woods and the woodwork decades before, but ever since their initial public acceptance things have been going downhill for them, as the human citizens of the U.S. passed a series of "Elf Crow" laws, fining them for doing magic, whittling away their freedoms. The supernaturals have finally decided they need a homeland, a place where they can roam and do magic at will. The previously mythical creatures have buried their own internal hatchets and agreed to sign the Grimm Accord with the humans, which will give them a homeland carved from the dry parts (most "ghosties" like it dry) of Oklahoma and Texas.

Joe COrk, the half-elf cheif investigator for the Senate Supernatural Affairs Committee, thought he was going to have an easy week. All the work on the Grimm Accord is done, it's just a matter of getting the ink dry. Soon, however, Cork discovers things are never that simple when dealing with the world of faery..."

When he looked up again Tas had gone. Rising to join the others, he caught sight of something small and abandoned on the floor. "Tas you forgot your pipe." He picked it up and then saw words carved into the wood he had not seen before. Find the music, find the magic.
"Did you carve this?"
Tas did not turn. "Yes," he said, reluctantly. "I have to leave it."
"But, Tas, why?"
Tas squared his shoulders as though firming some resolve. But still he did not turn. "Because the shepherd said that it could only be used once. Thats why I can't get the pipe to play that song-or any song. I've used the magic." He took a deep breath and went on. "And he said that once I found the magic I had the pass the pipe on." he paused and then he did turn, a scamp's humor in his long brown eyes. "It's going to be a long winter. I'm going to leave it here for someone else to find."

Kinda funny that I'm from the Washington DC area and just went to a Faerie Convention in Pennsylvania, since this book came from Pennsylvania and is about a Faery Convention in Washington DC. heehee!

Received this in the mail today. I shall put it on Mt. TBR and hopefully read it before FaerieCon next year if I end up going to that in Philly again :-) If not, I'm sure I can find a new home for it.

Thanks so much for the book!
