I don't usually read graphic novels and I'm not such a visual person either, so that's why I couldn't concentrate enough on the graphics and didn't get anything new from this story... Though I'm satisfied I read it, it's good to be openminded ;)

I'm sorry I kept it more than two weeks! I'll send it tomorrow to Potok-fan, I guess she's back in Turku again.

I am not very experienced in graphic novels. I have read the whole of the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman, which I was really impressed by, but I hated the only manga I've ever read, and the graphic novel Strangers in Paradise left me pretty cold.

I've never read the original Jekyll and Hyde either, so this will be a learning experience. But thank you, Sobergirl, for the link to the Edinburgh site - lots of interesting stuff there! I'll be following some of those links and letting you know what I think!

6 out of 10

"Following the success of the Kidnapped graphic novel, world famous illustrator Cam Kennedy couldn't wait to get stuck into Jekyll & Hyde. There will be four editions: the classic tale, a Scots language edition, a Gaelic version and a modern text copy, with simplified language. All use the same stunning artwork"

I think I would have preferred the classic tale version. With this one, I felt that I was reading almost solely for plot, and yet of course I know the final twist already! (How many readers of English can there be who don't already know the identity of Mr Hyde?) I guess I'm really more of a textual reader than a visual one!

On the other hand, I do think it would have been a blast to be a part of the Edinburgh celebrations, and I'd still like to explore their links - a silent movie version (!), information about the setting (which wasn't at all clear to me from this version of the graphic novel at least), and so forth.

Thanks, sobergirl, for letting me be a part of this ring, and I hope to see seethroughfaith this afternoon and pass the book along.
