'Drinkin', fightin' and stealin' cows is what they like best.'
"[...] Greebo shot past Agnes, accelerating. And then, just as he was about to spring, he changed his mind. All four feet extended their claws at the same time and bit into the floor-boards. He rolled, sprang on to his feet, and started to wash himself. [...] 'Greebo's frightened of 'em,'said Nanny.
Greebo was two worried eyes, one yellow, one pearly white, in the shadows. The witches were impressed. Greebo had once brought down an elk. There was practically nothing that he wouldn't attack, including architecture."
I am very fond of the Nag Mac Feegle and the witches, and also of Greebo - I really enjoyed this book!
"Oats sighed. 'Many people find faith a great solace,' he said. He wished he was one of them."

Back again with the Pratchett Box.
Thank you so much, faerie-glen! That's just the right kind of book which enlightens the November dreariness of my soul ^__^
If you think you know everything about vampires - think again. Vampires are afraid of daylight, garlic and holy water? Ha, that was once upon a time. Modern vampires - pardon, vampyres as they call themselves now - strive to cut off old habits and to become accepted in society. To endure daylight as well as holy water and garlic can be trained, from small doses to increasing amounts. That's exactly what Count de Magpyr from Uberwald did with his whole family. He even replaced the old fashioned blood through red wine; the Count is very determined to get his bite of the future. He hatches the ambitious plan to overthrow the king of Lancre. Unbloody of course, civilized. Will the witches of Lancre have the power to stop the Magpyrs?
Of course they will, we all know it. It's all about the way how they do it. And it's not easy, let me tell you, the vampyres thoroughly impregnated with holy water and quite immune to any known repellent.
Among others appear the witches Nanny Ogg, Granny Weatherwax and Agnes Nitt, who replaced Magrat Garlick in the coven of three. Even Magrat, who is now queen and mother, joins the fight. The young priest Mightily Oats came to Lancre for the naming ceremony of the infant princess, only to find himself caught in middle of a war. King Verence develops, against his peaceful nature and with a little help from a potion, an irresistible urge to fight. I think I encountered for the first time the Mac Nac Feegle Clan, a gang of incredibly strong, merely six inches high, blue ruffians who talk in a boozy Scottish. And of course there is an Igor, the servant of the Magpyr family, who will play an important role in the plot against his „mathter“, since his tireless efforts to make the castle cozy with cobwebs and dripping candles are only scorned by his employer.
The 23th novel is as hilarious and entertaining as any Pratchett, however I was a wee bit disappointed that the romance between Agnes Nitt and the priest didn't work out.

Thank you very much for sending this my way, spy-there! (And be sure to give your Greebo some extra treats in my name, just to thank him too!) ;)
It had been a while since my last Discworld book, but I had no trouble whatsoever getting into the story. I finished it last night sitting outside with a blanket over my shoulders. (It's getting warmer, but hey ... it's Belgium so it's rarely ever warm enough to sit outside without blankets in the evening.) The book made me very happy again, it seemed like the perfect time and place for some of Granny's wisdom. Thank you very much for sending it to me spy-there.

Hallo daar, gelukkige vinder!

This book brought back many happy childhood memories of the Discworld.
I'm curious to see where it ends up next.
