Nancy Kington, a wealthy merchant’s daughter living in Bristol, England in the early 1700’s, is sometimes lonely but enjoys the privileges her father’s business brings. Minerva Sharpe is a penniless slave’s daughter living and working on the Kington’s Jamaican plantation. These two young women, united through a set of extraordinary circumstances including a brutal murder, an arranged marriage, and set of ruby earrings, find themselves sailing the high seas in search of love, adventure and freedom—as pirates!
Celebrated British author Celia Rees (Witch Child, Sorceress) has penned a treasure chest of a tale that will keep teens glued to the pages until the last villain sinks to a deserved watery grave and the last beautiful heroine is reunited with her lost love.

Great book! Really loved it. Although I found the end a little dashed off, it still is a great book. I always wanted to be a pirate as a child. A pirate life looks to me as a really exciting life full of adventure and danger.
While reading the book, I constantly saw personages like Jack Sparrow or Elizabeth Swann from the Pirates of the Carribean in the lead roles. In my mind I already heard Jack Sparrow say some of his really funny lines. It made the book more perfect, because I love the whole personage of Jack Sparrow (his clothes, his lines, his movements, his whole being) and that of Elizabeth Swann (love the accent and her tough behavior!). Imagine them as the lead roles was so much fun!
And the front cover of the book wasn't a pain in the eye either. Beautiful!
Savvy?
Will PM EmEli to ask if she's ready for this book.
Sent today (9th of June) to Emeli

Annevo, thanks for making a ring of this book, I really liked it. It is not a 'standard' pirates story, because it is not all about adventure and fighting. But it is not just romance either. I think the main character, Nancy, was well developed. She was very real, she had also doubts and fears. I would have liked to see also a little more development in the tough Minerva, but it is a nice book anyway.

Onderweg naar Betje!
Leuk, dit boek is toch nog bij mij terecht gekomen. Het is weer rustiger aan het front, dus kan weer wat meer lezen. Nog 1 ring te gaan, dan is deze aan de beurt!

I liked this book, it was a good read, but not very special, judging the fact that I finished it some days ago and already I do not remember the specifics of the story. But I remember reading it in just 2 days, so without putting it down - which is good!
I send Annevo a pm to ask whether she wants the book returned or retry the forum for additional readers.
