The Visible World is a mixture of history, memoir and fiction. The narrator tells the story of growing up in New York hearing his parents' stories of their Czech homeland. In adulthood he returns to Prague to uncover the story of his parents' lives and the world they had to escape. I think this book is beautifully written they are parts which linger with me. I think Mark Slouka's description on page 80 of what heroism is or how it comes to be is sublime.
Happy reading,
