This book is part of our "Freedom to Read Week" event at our library. The author lives in the area, teaches at many public schools, and has written nine books for children, receiving a number of awards and honours. "Something to Tell" is about a girl who is subjected to sexual touching by the headmistress at her school. When Alma began touring the province of Prince Edward Island as part of Children's Book Week in 2000, the tour coordinator told the author not to read from this book. Ann honoured the request at the beginning of the tour, but later decided to ignore it, receiving expressions of thanks from teachers in the schools she visited. At our event, in which local writers and community leaders will read from banned books, Ann will read from a new copy of "Something to Tell" and then set it free...
