I finished this yesterday!

I found Henri and Villanelle very interesting main characters and the supporting cast of Domino and Patrick are hilarious and bring a weird twist to the novel. I must admit that I don’t know much about the Napoleonic Wars so Henri’s descriptions of Bonaparte were very interesting to me.

All in all a good enjoyable novel. Once again thanks perfect-circle for sharing this book with us, I’ve passed this onto KT-J now.

Next up: Horace McCoy – They Shoot Horses, Don't They?

Journal Entry 8 by KT-J on Tuesday, December 2, 2008
Received from Stubee. I have one book ahead of this so I'll get onto this shortly!

Journal Entry 9 by KT-J on Monday, December 15, 2008
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it really amusing in places. I enjoy reading about historical events so this was really interesting and having been to Venice a couple of times I found Villanelle's descriptions of the city brilliant and very apt (no street signs, no ability to locate places on a map!).

I've PMd Booksnbeer so will get this in the post once I receive their address. Thanks perfect-circle for yet another enjoyable bookray!

Edit 18/12/08: Booksnbeer has asked to be skipped so I have posted this to ealasaidmae today. I would imagine this will arrive in January so Happy New Year!

I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get into this one, as the last Winterson book I read dragged a bit for me. I thought I might be burning out on her. But no - this was a great book! I agree with Henri: war is a terrible thing. I wish we could remember that but we always seem to forget.

GateGypsy's asked to be skipped so I've PMed symphonicca for her address. I'll mail the book out ASAP.
