Odd thing I discovered about myself since becomeing a Book Crosser -- I dont like hard cover books. I would rather have paperbacks. So while I have this one in hard cover already, I will release it and keep this one on my shelf.
The back cover blurb reads:
"On a Creole plantation on the banks of Louisiana's Cane River, four generations of astonishing women battle injustice to unite their family and forge success on their own terms."
It begins:
"My great-grandmother Emily died in bed at her Louisiana home at the end of the summer of 1936, mwith $1,300 in cash hidden under her mattress. Although she passed away twelve years before I was born, her presence is firmly imprinted on our family lore. Neither my mother nor her brothers ever talk about Emily with a respectful cath in their throat, without a linger note of adoration in their tone."
So far so good, seems readable.
