What draws us to particular books? This one has attracted me ever since I saw it on a shelf over a year ago and I finally just bought it.
Frances Catherine, aka Frankka, a lapsed Catholic, is part of the Traveling Death and Resurrection show. She performs the stigmata for the show, willing herself to bleed at showtime. After 7 years of traveling with the troupe, she starts to wonder who she really is. We learn about how the troupe came to be, and when the LA Times covers the show and Frankka becomes a target for violence, she wonders how much of a 'gift' the stigmata really is, as well as how it should (or IF it should) inform her life. Smoothly interspersed with stories of saints, this is a quick, enjoyable, and occasionally insightful read.
I read and found it was partly set in Oregon (where I live), and then some in California (where I used to live) - a bonus!

Wow! I received this today as a surprise RABCK! Thanks Smilingheron!

The title is intriguing and the synopsis on the back sounds twisted and cool. Can't wait to read this!

Finally got around to reading this book. Took it on vacation and it made for a quick read. Interesting idea, the main character having a 'religious trick' they can do, but no religious motives. More like a lost hipster trying to find her way despite her up bringing and unusual 'talent'. I enjoyed the story.
