From the outside, Vicky Townsley would appear to have it all. Features Director of the hugely successful "Poise!" magazine, she lives alone in London, is single, solvent, and seriously successful. But she'd give it all up in a heartbeat for marriage, children, and a house in the country. Amber Winslow on the other hand, has exactly what Vicky Townsley wants; a huge stone mansion in Highfield Connecticut, children and a busy charitable commitment for the local Women's League. But Amber isn't happy either. She hasn't found quite the fulfillment she had expected from being a full-time wife and mother, so when she spots a double page spread in "Poise!" magazine asking married readers to life swap with a glamorous, single journalist in London, she sits down and writes a letter. But she never expects to be picked..."Life Swap" is the story of what really happens when two women decide to walk in one another's shoes for one month. It's the story of the grass not being as green as you might think, and of discovering that happiness is not always where you expect it to be.

Thank you so much for this RABCK, tiggerboing!

I want to read every single book that Jane Green has written, but Life Swap is right at the top of this not so short list. I am SO MUCH looking forward to read this!

Journal Entry 4 by wolkenklang on Friday, October 10, 2008
I started reading this today and I am already halfway through. It's again Jane Green's writing style at its best! And a great story, too.

edit October 20th:

This was one of those books that I didn't finish quickly because I liked it so much. I wanted to read a bit of it every day.
Unfortunately, like all good books, it came to an end far too quickly. Interestingly, I liked Vicky in the beginning of the book, but kind of disliked her at the end. Amber though I couldn't stand much in the beginning, although I could relate to her reasons for having become the person that she is, but I liked her a lot in the end of the book.
Jane Green built up the characters really well, using at least half of the book just telling about each girl's life before the swap. I would have enjoyed it if she has told more about the swapping experience. I think this part of the shory got cut too short; None of the girls experienced the really difficult situations in the other's life.
As always in Jane Green's books there were certain lines that I want to keep in mind. She does write a few really, really good things about approaching life and relationships that are worth being remembered.

It's here! Thank you very much Solskinn! :D
Unfortunately, I have a couple of Bookrings ahead of this one, but I'll try to get to it as soon as possible.

Journal Entry 8 by blackteiwaz from Calgary, Alberta Canada on Monday, November 24, 2008
I'm sorry to say I didn't like this book as much as I thought I would.
It feels too long, it took 150 pages for the actual plot to start, since the author wants to make sure we understand the characters and their motives. It has some funny moments, it is just way too long, which had me skipping entire paragraphs and that is not a custom of mine.
Once the action starts, the book becomes a quick and nice read, since the main characters are likable and you want to know what happens, even if it is predictable. At some point I was nodding in agreement, understanding how Amber felt.
I'll send it off to the next reader as soon as I get her address, thank you for sharing!

Received this book in the post yesterday and have already started to read it. I think it will be a weekend read and out in the post again on Tuesday. I have pm'ed the next in line for her address.

I have enjoyed all 4 of the books by this author that I have read thus far: Jemima J, Mr. Maybe, and Straight Talk. I really enjoyed the premise of this latest read as who does not at some times think they would like to change places in the world with someone else.

KUDOS and I hope the next reader enjoys the read as much as I did.

Journal Entry 15 by krl112 from Hawthorne, New Jersey USA on Monday, March 16, 2009
I loved this book! The reason I signed up for this bookring is because the premise reminded me of a great movie, "The Holiday" with Kate Winslet, where two very different single women swap houses for a holiday. This book takes the concept much further, where the two very different women, one married with children and one single in the city, swap lives. Exploring the concept that life is not always greener on the other side is very interesting to me. I think this is a common and universal question we all consider. The two main characters in this book try to walk in the others shoes (quite literally), and the revelations they encounter are so true.

This was the first book I've read by Jane Green. I enjoyed it but like blackteiwaz, felt part of it dragged on. I was bored with the constant drama with Amber's friends yet laughed at "speed sex" never knowing the concept had an actual name! I am signed up for another ring, Green House, and look forward reading that as well.

I already have sunfi's address and will mail this out to her later today.

Arrived today! I love Jane Green and am really looking forward to this!

Journal Entry 24 by wingAramenawing from Noble, Oklahoma USA on Friday, June 26, 2009
I loved this book. I was a little surprised at how long the book went on before the actual swap happened, but I didn't really mind as I enjoyed reading about both Vicki's and Amber's lives. The fact that the swap section seemed shorter also seemed very realistic to me from what I'd read. But I really would have liked to find out what happened later with Vicki and how her life turned out!

I also thought that the writing style seemed a little different from previous Jane Green books I've read, but it very much suited the story.

Mailing out to the next participant today!

Journal Entry 25 by tabby-cat-owner from Bellingham, Washington USA on Monday, July 27, 2009
I received this book awhile ago, but I forgot to make a journal entry for this. I just finished reading the book and it was quite enjoyable. Jane Green's writing style is easy-to-read. It was interesting to read about the two different lifestyles of two young women who live on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean and to read about how a short-term life swap changed their lives. I definitely am going to read more books by Jane Green.

Wow, this came fast!!! I should be starting this one soon.

I really enjoy Jane Green's novels. It's a fun fluff novel with a good theme. It would be nice to step into somebody's shoes for a while to really appreciate what you have. Thanks for sharing.

Received fresh from Korea whoopie! Will journal it quickly once i finish reading. i have a book to complete just before i touch on this one. 3/4 thru' with current book so should not be too long! Thanks so much Supertalya for sending to me much appreciated & tigerboing for making this ring possible to reach me.

Journal Entry 29 by wingDeiwing on Monday, December 14, 2009
First time i am reading this author and i adore her writing style. So witty, so light. While the green is always greener on the other side, this books does makes me reflect that we should constantly count our blessings and what we wish for and desire so much for may not exactly make us happy or contented.

Thanks so much tiggerboing for starting this ring to get me acquainted with this author. Mailing to Blundery in Downunder. Happy reading!

Journal Entry 30 by Blundery on Monday, January 11, 2010
This book arrived today and with all the comings and goings of Christmas, I completely forgot it was on its way. I am so looking forward to a light summer read so I am sure I will get this finished fairly quickly (just got to finish the book I am currently reading first).
Thanks so much Solskinn for putting it up for Bookray :-)

Journal Entry 31 by Blundery on Tuesday, January 26, 2010
I really enjoyed this book. I could relate to many aspects of Ambers life (not the money part unfortunately). Keeping up appearances for the other school mums is always hard work :-)

I didn't find it as predicatable as most books from this genre are. I spent most of my reading trying to guess what would happen next, but there were a few unexpected turns that worked will for the story (and kept me on my toes). It was my first Jane Green book, but I don't think it will be my last.

I will send this off to the next bookcrosser as soon as I get the address.

thanks again to Solskinn for keeping this book travelling around the world.

Received today from the lovely Blundery. I haven't signed up for a ring or a ray for ages. So nice to get that excited feeling at receiving a book in the mail!
It goes right to the top of the pile.

Journal Entry 33 by sunny27 from Gympie, Queensland Australia on Thursday, February 25, 2010
Well, it wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as I'd expected. I've had a really busy couple of weeks, so I've had to snatch a few pages here and there and perhaps that made it difficult to get really absorbed in the story. Nice characters, nice settings, some really funny moments. I didn't see the twist coming at all, which was nice for a change.
I've contacted Mummafour to organise passing the book on.
Thanks so much for sharing it!

Journal Entry 34 by mummafour from Adelaide, South Australia Australia on Monday, March 29, 2010
Thanks sunny27 i did recieve this book a week ago and have started to read it all ready. I will finish it off this weekend!
