A quite old paperback, a present from Postcrossing-friend, Written 1944 and this was printed 1959. "Cluny Brown is a delightfully ironic tale of a girl who always did the unexpected. Cluny lived in London with her uncle who was a plumber. After his wife died, Mr. Porrit felt that his niece and her escapades were too much for him to handle. He could not understand why Cluny had to save up her money and go to tea at the Ritz, nor how it was she nearly had a bath in a gentleman's flat where she went to fix the sink. There was no alternative but to send her tobe parlourmaid in a lovely old house in Devonshire where she would be out of harm's way. But this was only the beginning of her gay and hilarious adventures. Yes, you will lose your heart to Cluny!"

Nice, old-fashioned book with quite unconventional heroine. Enjoyable, easy story!
