"After her escape from an old people's home where her son, Jack, and his new partner have placed her, Agnes's quest to find her grandchildren is complicated by unexpected encounters. These new friends include: Joe, the helpful lorry driver; Molly, the garrulous hotel-owner; Gazza, the student; and Felix, the retired barrister's clerk, whom Agnes pulls back from attempted suicide.

Hoping to rekindle Felix's desire to live, she invents the Dangerous Sports Euthanasia Society, but soon fears that this falsehood, having acquired a momentum of its own, will end in tragedy."

An entertaining story with engaging characters, though the plot is a little too ridiculous and unbelievable in places.

Received with many thank yous .. I look forward to reading it and will bring it with me to the 2008 COnvention in London and endeavour to obtain the author's signature in it before it continues its travel to who know where ...

Thank you so very much, smallbluepebble for your thoughtfulness - it is much appreciated.

Uhum .. this one is going to be difficult for me to pretend to like from start to finish .. there is just too much "wonderful" and too little substance for my liking. When is someone going to write a "what does little old people do with they get .. ahem .. old and not too decrepit"?

I hope one of the things they will never agree to is to move to an old people's home if they do not want to .. or take orders from their children.

I know a few old people and I am getting there myself, but this story is just too far removed from what I can recognise.

I will endeavour to get the author's autograph during the 2008 BC Convention in London and pass it on.

I was handed this book at the Convention in London and asked if I'd like to read it. It sounded fascinating and after hearing Christine speak I was even more delighted to get this. I read it on the train home on Wednesday and throughly enjoyed it.

I really liked feisty Agnes and was cheering her on from the minute she ran away from the Home. OK, some of the situations were a bit far-fetched, and the characters eccentric, but it was all the more amusing for that. The serious undertones relating to grandparent:grandchildren relationships following parents who separate and lack of communication within families were thought-provoking and added to the drama. The book was a real page turner and I recommend it.

I shall think of someone to pass on this signed copy.

An easy fun read. If you like eccentric characters and outrageous plots mixed into modern family life you will love this.
