Short Stories: Volume One
10 journalers for this copy...
Not for those who are easily shocked.
The author has written and directed two films and also writes for the theatre. This is his first book.
Some brief "rules"
* Journal the book when you receive it.
* PM the next person on the list for their address when you receive it so as to try to avoid hold-ups later on.
* If you don't hear from the next participant within a few days, PM them again. If after a few more days you still haven't heard from them, PM me to let me know, and move on to the next person on the list.
* Read (and hopefully enjoy!) Don't feel pressurised to read it in a rush (and life gets in the way sometimes!) but if you need to keep hold of the book for longer than say a couple of months, please journal to let us know.
* Journal again when you've read it to let us know what you think of it.
* The person at the end of the ring sends the book back to me.

Iām not a fan of stream of consciousness type stories, and thatās how a number of the pieces in this collection come across. As a writer myself, Iāve always felt I could knock up dozens of these stories without any effort at all. In that respect I donāt find them impressive. Iāve heard the argument that being so individualistic theyāre art in themselves. Itās not an argument to which I care to subscribe.
I felt the best three stories in the collection were āeny oll man Admā, āTrainsā, and āThe Sofa, The Skin & The Fireā. The fact that these three are the most structured is not coincidental to them being my favourites.
Still, an interesting read, and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of the ring. I wish your author friend good luck with the book.
Iāve pmed the next recipient for an addressā¦

Thank you Geetheflea for allowing me to participate in this book ring.
I thought 'eny oll man Adm' as a portrait of isolation and survival coping mechanisms was done well.
I found 'Trains' interesting. I really liked some of the language in Gloria such as:
"Only street light and a few rays from the moon, project a beam of bright night into my life."
"In the thin rain, I make my way through the streets, tears still flowing and joining with the puddles at my feet."
I did like 'Early Mourning' as a snapshot of grief and appreciated 'Caught Alighted' and 'The Sofa, The Skin & The Fire.' I did have to force myself to read the book and doubt I would have managed to complete it if it had been long. I do however suspect I would aprreciciate the stories more if they were dissected in an english literature seminar.
Anyway, it's always nice to try something new, but I can't say I'll be looking out for future work by this author.
I'll PM RowanneM for an address now.
Apologies for the delay.
Oops... managed t misplace this very small book, found now and read, very interesting stories... posting on the Gingergeoff this week... sorry for the delay.
I have PM'd Bookworm-lady for the next address.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Sent to Bookworm-lady as she is next on the ring
Won't take long, and will soon pass it on to my friend Iliotropio.
Thanks for sharing!
I liked the first story, and "Trains" wasn't too bad.
I couldn't understand some other stories, such as "Of Love".
Having said that, I couldn't put it down, and read it in record time!
Maybe Volume Two will be better!
Soon to be sent to my friend Iliotropio...

I see that the opinions are rather divided, so IĀ“m curious to read it myself...
On their way to Trelk, hoping heĀ“ll enjoy them.
Fotomiep hasn't been answering PMs, Photolein and Caligula03 asked to be skipped. So I guess the book will go home now.
