Despite this book being in the Inspector Lynley series he has a very small part in it - the main focus is Deborah and Simon St James. They are asked to help a friend of Debbie's who has been arrested for murder on the island of Guernsey. I find the angst between Debbie and Simon a little irritating in many oracles, but overall this is an interesting thriller with lots of twists and turns. There are a number of people with motives, and it is interesting to see how avarice affects the way people react to the death of a millionaire. China - the american friend and her brother Cherokee are an interesting focus for the story and as foreigners in a difficult position in what is quite a closed community in the island.
