When the widowed Framboise moves back to the village of Les Laveuses, where she grew up, she is pleased to discover that no-one recognises her. She soon forges a new life for herself there, and before long has established a profitable creperie. All is going well, until her profiteering nephew realises that money can be made by publishing a collection Framboise's increasingly popular recipes, left to her by her mother a woman despised throughout the village. For the book to be a success, her true identity must be revealed, opening the flood gates to a past life and painful childhood memories.

Really enjoyed "Chocolat" so I hope this lives up to expectations!

Have decided it's time this book moved on even though it's not been read. I was saving it for The November THE Challenge but this author is worth 45 extra bonus points this month in the ULTIMATE CHALENGE so as I can't pass that up it's going now!

Looking forward to reading this one - read "Chocolat" ages ago and enjoyed that:
Picked up for just 50p from the Forget-me-Not Charity shop in Brighouse. Thanks, Plum-crazy.

Read this book following "Chocolat" and "Blackberry Wine". Joanne Harris does it again . . . Framboise, in disguise and using a different name, thinks nobody recognises her when she moves back into the rural villlage in France where she grew up. However her demons come back to haunt her in the form of a nephew and his family who are after something Framboise has inherited.
Can't wait to get hold of more of her books.
