YAY - I love Christmas anthologies

A Cloud Mountain Christmas by Robin Lee Hatcher: A common thread in many of the Christmas novels I've read this holiday season is the benefits of slowing down and simplifying one's life, focusing on important things like solid relationships and opening one's heart to the God's plan for our lives. In this story, Maddie is learning to trust again after her devastating high-profile divorce from a pro athlete. While on a business trip to a rural ski lodge, she finds herself reacquainted with her former college classmate, who owns the lodge and has outgrown his nerdy college image. A minor ski accident extends her stay at the lodge, and she gets caught up in the Christmas activities there, including a huge family reunion celebration with the other lodge guests. With divine providence at work, she reevaluates her life, heals her past hurts, and finds the happiness that had eluded her until now. This story is very nicely done, delivers its message subtly yet powerfully, has very likeable characters and a wonderful supporting cast, and a beautful setting.

A Match Made for Christmas by Kathryn Springer: A heartwarming story about a youth minister and her group of preteen girls who bring Christmas cheer to down-and-out people in their community, and the hardened cynical reporter who follows them around. A lovely rural neighborhood, and a well done story with lots of interesting supporting details, remind us what Christmas, love and community are all about.
