The author came to the US from Equatorial Guinea when he was five. As he grew up, he was surprised that there were no books about the history and culture of his people, the Ndowe. He sat down with many Ndowe over the course of fourteen years to compile these stories.

I bought this used copy online, and it's signed by the author.

I enjoyed these stories - they were interesting and gave some insight into the culture. I did have a little trouble keeping the names straight sometimes. And the author got a little pedantic and repetitious with the notes following each story.

This is filling my slot for Equatorial Guinea in the Olympic Challenge (reading things by authors from every country that participates in the Summer Olympics). I will also put this into a place where I can offer it as part of a Virtual Book Box of books that aren't from Europe and the Americas (Passport to the World).
