Book Description:

Peaceful rural life is shattered in Blacklin County, Texas, when Jeanne Clinton is found murdered in her home. Widower Rhodes also begins a friendship with widow Ivy Daniels, whom he meets on the election trail. How will it all turn out?

Crider gives us a good foundation for this police procedural mystery series, with enough unique homespun characters in the community to keep readers guessing. The cemetery scene in this book is not to be missed.

My Review: This was really slow to start. I liked the storyline and characters. My pet peeve was that it was told third person narrative. It would have been better told from Sheriff Rhodes perspective. I have the next book in the series, not sure if I'll read it or not.

Finished the book last night. It was nice to read the first of a series first. It was a gentle, quick read.
