Journal Entry 1 by DarthAngel on Monday, March 10, 2003
This book is either for Pratchett fans who have always wondered how he pictured his own characters, fans of the artist Paul Kidby or have heard about Terry Prachetts books and wants to have a quick look through and see what its all about. The drawings are brilliant and really bring the characters to life (I personally love the 'Pale Rider' painting) with short and funny character synopsises by Terry Pratchett.

I got this book in the mail today, and was so thrilled that I've read through the whole thing! I'm really into the Discworld book, so it was like visiting with old friends. The drawings are great and the short descriptions of the characters had me reliving episodes from the Discworld books I've read. Extremely enjoyable! Thank you, BookFrog, for this bookring and giving me a chance to read this book! I'll be sending it out in the next few days when I get to the post office. I'll make a journal entry when I do. Thanks again!

Read the book for the fantastic illustrations by Paul Kidby. Terry Pratchett, the usual witty and humorous writer needs to read Stephen King's "On Writing" to learn how to write about what inspires him to write. This Portfolio could be so much more than it is.

This was waiting for me last night when I got home after a short holiday. I do not know how long the poor book was sitting on the porch, but it survived the weather in perfect shape. I have read through the volume already and will go back to study Paul Kidby's illustrations with more attention ... I have found that you need to check them over a few times to spot all the hidden detail :-) Thanks for the little surprise, BookFrog, that was very kind of you :-)

The book is finally on its way to myntti in Finland. I really enjoyed the wonderful artwork of Paul Kidby and the funny character synopsises written by Terry Pratchett. Sam Vimes was quite a surprise, I did not picture him looking that much like Dirty Harry and did anybody else notice that Mustrum Ridcully looks just like Sean Connory?

This was an enjoyable book, but a bit too short... I would have liked to read a little more about the different characters. It was fun to see how Paul Kidby had seen the denizens of Discworld. Some of the characters were just as I had imagined them. And I agree with Lady-Sybil - I didn't imagine Sam Vimes looking so "Dirty Harryish" either. I'll mail the book to Beladormecidaa later this week (as soon as I have time to go to the post office). ======= 29.1.2004 Mailed to Portugal today.

I'ves just received the book, but read some parts already. The pictures are amazing, really cool! I don't know much about the author's work, so I think it's the right time to start investigating! Thanx Myntti, for the book and for the postcard! xxx

I have to agree with others comments here-Vimes doesn't look like that at all! Other than that, all the characters look exactly as they do in my imagination, and got me wondering about who would be cast if there was ever a Discworld film... Back to BookFrog now!
