I found this good-condition hardcover among the charity-sale books at a local Hannaford, and as I've enjoyed Tripp's illustrations and punny stories for a long time I had to grab it. Most of his books are collections of poems or jokes, but this one's an actual story: brave Sir Toby, after years of triumphing over dragons, ogres, and assorted wild beasts, notices that he's not getting any younger, but with all the dangerous creatures out there who have grudges against him it might be tricky for him to simply retire. His method of dealing with the situation is entertaining, and should make for a good read-aloud story. [In addition to the main story, each illustration has lots of little side comments, via word-balloons, from the other characters; those are definitely worth reading too!]
