I have owned this book for quite some time. I moved it to Mount TBR because of reading about a stalled book ring that needed this book and The Te of Piglet.

I should finish over the weekend and then be able to ship if it is still needed. Will write another journal entry once I finish reading.

Synopsis
"Thought-provoking and charming."--Library Journal Not all Great Masters of Wisdom are venerable graybeards. One is as familiar to us as that beloved teddy bear Winnie the Pooh. From the "how" of Pooh to the Tao of Pooh is a simple, effortless, joyous step...a delicious journey to Pooh Corner illuminated by the timeless teachings of the Taoist immortals.

Library Journal
Author/narrator Hoff calls Winnie the Pooh a ``Western Taoist'' and uses the unassuming bear to introduce Eastern philosophical principles. Pooh epitomizes the ``uncarved block,'' as he is well in tune with his natural inner self. Pooh enjoys simple pleasures and the daily progress of life. Hoff contrasts this unpretentiousness to other characters created by Winnie - the - Pooh author A.A. Milne, including Owl, whom he describes as a ``mind that tries too hard,'' and Eeyore, the eternal pessimist. In a clear and crisp voice, Hoff explains the central tenets of Taoism and further illustrates them with familiar excerpts from The House at Pooh Corner stories (1923), Chinese proverbs, maxims, and tales from Lao Tzu and others. The result is at once thought-provoking and charming. This is a small literary event that will leave all who experience it a little more serene. For most collections.-- Jeanne P. I have been a Bisy Backson lately which is very unlike me. This book has reminded me to stop and listen and breathe. It also reminded me to do without doing, that things are as they are, to believe in me, that nothing is important, and to be childlike.

It was a good reminder in a week that has seen me not be who I truly am because of stress. It was the right book at the right time.

I am waiting to hear from chich so we can restart her stalled ring.

Apologies for holding on to this book for so long. I read it almost as soon as I had it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since then it's been travelling back and forth to work with me, waiting for me to find time to send it to the next reader.

Finally, it is on its way.

I'd completely forgotten I'd signed up for this one! I suspect Fate has decided that I need to read it - and so am anticipating some much needed enlightenment!

More later!

Journal Entry 20 by winglmn60wing from Spotswood, Victoria Australia on Saturday, July 18, 2009
Yup! I was right! The universe wanted me to read this book now at a particularly stressful time in my life. I've always loved the tales of Pooh, Christopher Robin and their friends - I can still recite poems from 'Now We are Six - and the combination of using these characters to explore Taoism was just inspired! It certainly brought a smile to this old dial!!!

I actually finished this one a couple of weeks ago, and I've tried PMing both of the other bookcrossers who are due to receive this book but with no response.

Will await further instructions from chich to see where this book should travel next. I suspect it will find the right reader at the right time.... just like it did this time!

Picked this up at Bookcrossing brunch in town today. I've heard so much about this little book, I'm intrigued and I know my son will enjoy it as well (I might even be able to twist his arm into journaling it - who knows!) Thanks for bringing it along to brunch, always nice to catch up with BCers.
