Journal Entry 1 by LouisePymer from Sheffield, South Yorkshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, November 20, 2007
This book is a fictional day-by-day diary of a young woman who has been sectioned. It exposes to the reader how thin the line is between sanity and insanity, and how every human being can identify with someone who has been diagnosed as mentally ill. The diary entries are very short and confused to begin with and move on to be eloquent and explanatory. In doing thie author has allowed the narrative to build up demonstrating the characters growing ability to understand her illness and reflecting the character's state of mind. The extensive appendices give more information about the author and the conditions she writes about and suggested further readings. This is a meticulously researched and informative piece of creative writing, written with the intention to help remove the prejudice and ignorance surrounding the mentally ill.
