10 out of 10

This is probably my favourite childrens book ever. It was introduced to me when I was in Year 3 by my teacher Mrs Cook. She let me borrow her beautifully illustrated hardback copy after she'd read it to the class as I enjoyed it so much. A few years ago I managed to acquire < a href="http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/4321324">one copy which remains in my PC, but I spotted this and had to buy it for 20p! It's a book I think is really a shame is out of print and everyone should read - to their kids or just for themselves!

" 'It was the eleventh day of the school holidays and Rebecca was bored. Bored. Bored. Bored.'

But events take a dramatic turn for the better (or worse) when she finds herself transported to a distant planet, whose people are terrorized by jelly-like monsters called GHOSTS.

Rebecca resolves to sort out their problems. With the help of Grisby, a sore-footed misery-boots, Kovak, an out-of-work spy, and Captain 'K', a rather puny superhero, she sets out for the Forbidden Lands in search of a solution.

An original and very funny fantasy for younger readers by Terry Nation, the creator of the Daleks." - back cover
