Passed to me by LyzzyBee. Looking forward to reading it over Christmas.
I like the idea of this book and was charmed by the progressive feminist heroine Varvara and the broken hearted gentleman sleuth Fandorin but I found it difficult to maintain interest in the plot. Maybe there were just too many cavalry charges, bandits and ambushes! Also I don't think I know enough about the Russo-Turkish War to follow the background story.
