Hello nachtgeier,
so it's me who hunted your book on the occasion of our yesterday's meet-up at Café Goldmund...
I had adored "The mists of Avalon" as well as other books on the legend of King Arthur, celtic wizardom etc (e.g. The Warlord Chronicles series by Bernard Cornwell). MZB's typically female view on imagined history with attention to detail,though, is something I appreciate, so I think I'll like "The Forest House". Wait and see, and let's have a cuppa tea 'cause it's cold in here.

I set the book free this mornin' at 7 in a nice "British" sandwich & breakfast bar where you find a bookshelf on the 1rst floor, and lots of Yorkshire tea to wake up...
And YES, I did enjoy reading "The Forest House", even if I prefer the "female" British to the "male" Roman point of view, and therefore read the slaughter-and-battle-passages a bit carelessly.
For those who enjoy themselves in the described mythic world full of changes and upheavals, I'd like to recommend an online-play at "Avalon - the legend lives": http://www.avalon-rpg.com/.
