I love mystery novels, especially British ones, and double especially Scottish ones. This one was good, not great, but good atmosphere, tension and characters. Great for a snowy, windy, blustery day when you just want to stay in bed and read.
Journal Entry 2 by idioteqnician from Manchester, Greater Manchester United Kingdom on Saturday, March 8, 2003
We found this book at Cinema du Parc today. Everyone assumed it was mine because I'm known as a BookCrossing nut. It wasn't, however, making this my first genuinely wild catch. We looked it over, but it didn't appeal to anyone at the cinema so I made it look more obviously free for the taking and then placed it by the candy girl's cash register for someone else to find.

The writing was better than I expected but the plot was pretty predictable - and the relationships were not very believable. I read very quickly and I did not remember much after I'd read it - a day later I couldn't remember the plot. Mystery books are like that for me, though, more of a junk lit addiction. I do remember being satisfied while I was reading it and at the very least - I was not grossed out after I was done, sometimes murder pulp books can leave me with a sour taste. The gender relations in this one was pretty sub-mediocre though.
Anyway, I was happy to have participated - I'd never heard of Bookcrossing, so hey - sooo nice as an idea. So I will leave it at the YMCA in the neighbourhood of Mile-End - very busy andlots of different people go there.

Just wanted to amend my last journal entry and had not realized it would list the "found in the wild" date as when I entered journal entry. I actually picked up the Book on Sat. March 8, but don't have email access at home and was sick so this was the first opportunity I had to check in. I love the "wild" idea.
