I'm mailing this book off to geishabird tomorrow for her Ballyswapper month in December.
Thanks very much for sending this. Everything I've heard about this book seems to indicate that it will be a disturbing and challenging read, which are attributes I am always glad to see in my reading choices. :)
This was an amazing book! Along with Cloud Atlas and My Name Is Red, it beautifully re-invents the idea of fictional narrative. A terrific idea executed brilliantly, and it was such fun (if that's the right word, considering the subject matter) to read. A tragic and heartbreaking look at an attempt to create life from death and destruction. Thanks so much for sharing this, I think it's going to turn out to be one of my favourite reads this year.
Sent this off to msjoanna a few days ago - hope you enjoy it.
This has arrived in New York. Looking forward to it. Thanks!
A very odd book - a life told backwards by a strange invented narrator. The narrator is inside the head of a person, watching what that person watches, but watching it all in reverse. The narrator seems to know some things about the world (e.g., understands about relationships) but also doesn't seem to realize that he's watching everything in reverse. As a technical matter, the story was cleverly handled. Still, I wasn't overwhelmed by the novel. I don't want to give away spoilers, but I didn't like where the book went at the end.
Sent with a birthday package.
Thank you, MsJoanna! This sounds like an unusual novel, I look forward to reading it.
