The book was released into the wild today, as planned, at 9:30 am local (EST), with a bright yellow post it. At 1:00 it was still in place, minus the post-it, so I attached another post-it, moved it to a table where a student was sleeping (same general area) and left it to its fate. Hope it gets picked up!

Journal Entry 3 by WickedWordz from Miami, Florida USA on Wednesday, March 05, 2003
At around 3pm, I wondered by the building thinking that the book would be gone. I was curious, so I checked. Sure enough, the sleeping student didn't pick it up, and I did. This is my first time finding a bookcrossing book. I'll leave another journal entry as soon as I get done reading the book and releasing it into the wild again. It's in good hands. :)

Journal Entry 4 by WickedWordz from Miami, Florida USA on Friday, April 25, 2003
Finally got done reading this book. I was a tad disappointed with the end, but that's just me. Altogether a good book though. Now, I just have to get started on the rest of the Sue Grafton alphabet. I have to figure out where I'll be releasing this book next. Oh, I added a few labels to the book; it's all decked out now! :)

OFFICIAL BOOKRING BOOK! PLEASE JOIN!! :) DESCRIPTION IN BOOK: When Kinsey Millhone agrees to do a favor for Henry Pitts, her lovable octogenarian landlord, she literally gets taken for the ride of her life. The family of a recently deceased WWII veteran wants her to find out why the military has no record of his service. All Kinsey has to do, she thinks, is cut through some government red tape. But when the dead man's house is ransacked and his old army buddy is beaten up, she quickly realizes he was not all he seemed. Before long Kinsey is trailing crooks halfway across the country, impersonating a hotel maid, tangling with a baseball-bat-wielding grandmother, and running from one very dangerous character. With her money almost gone and her nerves frayed, Kinsey's got to solve a decades-old crime and make it back home in time for Henry's wedding ... if she can make it back at all. Current List: IN ORDER! 1) Senorag (USA) 2) Rern (USA) 3) Hulamonkey (USA) 4) Caligula03 (USA) 5) Talkland (UK) 6) Theresa-A (UK) 7) Jalna (UK) 8) Annelis (Finland) 9) Plinius (Netherlands) 10) Frank-63 (Germany) 11) Dani75 (Germany) 12) Pink-Panther (Germany) 13) Auro (Italy) 14) PenelopePitstop (Italy) 15) Luckaye (Australia)) 16) Mochagirl (Australia) 17) Ravenbear (Australia) 18) Vicki9170 (USA) 19) Adventuretom (USA) -----THEN BACK TO ME IN THE US!

Ok, I've read ONE Grafton book, and darn if this wasn't it! I read so much and unless it really grabs me, I just don't remember names. I read just a few pages and thought, hmmmm, this seems familiar. It was cause I read it. Call me a dunce. I am sending it right out to Rern.

I had'nt planned on keeping this book so long but I was caught in the blackout with a few chapters to go and then I left for vacation the next day. Apologies to all! All of Sue Grafton"s books are entertaining but this was not one of my favorites. Still it was an enjoyable read. The book continues its journey to Hulamonkey. Thank you!

Journal Entry 11 by hulamonkey from Newark, Ohio USA on Saturday, September 06, 2003
Recieved book yesterday in the mail. I have read a few of Sue Grafton's books in the past and I am glad to see that this is not one I've had before. I have to finish the book I'm currently reading and then I have one on my TBR list before this one. Taking a guess, I'll say I will have this book for about 3 weeks.

L is for Lawless is one of my favorite out of the Kinsey Milhone series. I think B & C are slightly stronger but L is still a fun romp of a read. I love this series in part because it takes place in a fictionalized version of Santa Barbara, California, a place I had the joy to live for a few years. One thing for new readers to the series, although the series has been coming out over the last 18 or so years, each book takes place roughly 3-6 months after the last one ends. That means that the books are still in the late 1980s plot wise. You won't see much reference to computers. There is no internet and none of the other high tech tools that mysteries now refer to. Kinsey Milhone is a contemporary of Magnum PI.

Sue Grafton is an extremely polished writer and it shows with this effortless piece of writing. There are lots of twists and turns and plenty of uncertainty making for a splendid read. I read the book in a one go, hardly pausing. The plot is exciting, and intriguing, and the denouement is unusually surprising.

'L Is for Lawless' has arrived - thank you. Although I do enjoy Sue Grafton's books, I'm trying to cut back on rings and rays at the moment; but as this one has arrived, I shall do my best to read it in a timely manner. If I don't get through it soon, I shall pass it on to the next person on the list.
