It would be an exaggeration to say that Laurell K. Hamilton's Incubus Dreams is just one sex scene after another. This twelth novel in her bestselling Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series presents a wedding, a murder, and a lot of relationship angst before getting down and dirty on page 89; and the sex scenes pause on page 377 to let the mystery plot resume. The series deftly blends elements of alternate history, horror, romance, erotica, and mystery, but anyone reading Incubus Dreams for the murder plot is going to be frustrated. However, Incubus Dreams is a considerably stronger and more interesting book than its talky predecessor, Cerulean Sins, and fans will enjoy the many new developments in Anita's complicated love life.

Sheer disappointment.
I got hooked on these books because they were a cool, supernatural combination of the whodunit, detective, and action genres. Don't get me wrong, Anita's love/sex-life has always been part of the stories, but it wasn't ever really the primary plotline. Now it is, and since I don't dig soft-core erotica nor romance novels, I don't care for it.

Back when a friend first got me hooked on this series, I practically salivated with anticipation before I could read each new book. Since "Narcissus in Chains" was a letdown to me, I was eager to see if the next book would be an improvement. How sad that it wasn't.

I won't bother to read the next books in the series and find them a new home instead!

I am just reading this series - so I got this book, too.

And finally, after years, I managed reading this book as part of a challenge (releasing the books, that have been with you for the longest period).
I read the first 5 books in the series, and then I did not read the rest - up to this one!
As Rianonne already said, the main part of the plot changed, also to me it was too much sex and too little crime. It also was a very long read which was not easy in the bedroom with little light.
A good read, I liked the story, but I would have liked it better to cross out 300 pages of sex and reading the rest of the story (which are still 400 pages left).
