5 out of 10

This book is already pretty worn. It was my son's from his English class and he's not always very careful with his things.

I had it on my shelf for a couple of years since it's a classic that I've never read. I moved it up to the top and read it because my foreign student is also reading it for his English class. I didn't care for it - I'm not really a fan of reading scripts, and this one is pretty dark. But I am glad to have read it as I think it gave me more insight into that time and place.

My student is having some difficulty with it. The language is a bit archaic, which is particularly difficult for someone trying to become fluent in English. The dark theme is difficult for him. And he doesn't have cultural reference points for Witchcraft and Salem since he comes from China where they don't have the same history.

I will plan to wild release it, though, and hope that someone else finds it who will also want to learn more about the witch trials.
