The Famished Road by Nigerian poet and novelist Ben Okri, follows Azaro, an abiku or spirit child, living in an unnamed Nigerian city.

Winner of the Booker Prize 1991.

5 out of 10

Hard to get into as lots of spirits and not so many human characters to identify with. However, enjoyable read once I started.
