Journal Entry 1 by cherylllr from Carson City, Nevada USA on Monday, November 05, 2007
One of the best books I've ever read, and relevant right now. I've sent out two copies so far, both of which stalled, so now I've bought two more copies and am sending them out. Please PM me to join a ring.

Journal Entry 3 by cats-eye from Bishop Auckland, County Durham United Kingdom on Saturday, December 15, 2007
hmmm...I have a mixture of feelings about this book...initially, I was put off by the style of writing with the constant switching between characters (I kept losing track of which font belonged to who) and the gimmicky feel of it. Once I got past that, I was curious to see where the story lead. I felt there was great potential, and the topic was interesting and relevant, but just couldn't get past the amateur feel of the whole thing. For me, the characters where very flat and unrealistic, and the author just piled on the alt lifestyle choices that Mary was faced with until it almost became absurd and preachy. I found the information contained in the book to be fascinating, and can visualise the future as the author portrayed it, but in the end if felt like he used a sledgehammer when a gentle tap would have done the job. Thank you for sharing this one, cherylllr - it certainly raises some relevant points worth thinking about. I shall be happy to pass this along once I know who's next :)

Journal Entry 7 by MrsDanvers from Ely, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Friday, March 06, 2009
I'm afraid that I ended up rather frustrated with this book. I liked the format of the book, after J-pod I can cope with anything. I thought the theme was very interesting and very relevant to the US in the 21st century. Unfortunately, like cats-eye, I felt that the author overloaded Mary's switch in lifestyle from fundamentalist to bisexual, polyamorous pagan. Less would have been more in this case. Having said that there were real issues being discussed here about the rights of pewople with alternative lifestyles in a fundamental religious society.

I've tried this a couple of times and come to the conclusion that unfortunately I'm never going to get into it. I'll message the next person so it can be passed on.
