Sammy's Hill

Sammy (Samantha Joyce) is an influential young woman on Capitol Hill. She is the trusted health care advisor to an upwardly mobile young senator who she affectionately calls RG. Sammy is one of those people who wants to please everyone, so she works hard, she rushes around and she never leaves time enough for herself. Sammy finds it hard to work 70 hours a week, juggle her friendships and romances, keep her Betta (fish) alive and keep her mom in the know. As a result, she is always frazzled and consistently finds herself in compromising and often bizarre situations. I found this novel laugh out loud funny, and easy to read.

I first read this book over the summer. It is very funny, laugh-out-loud funny, and the plot is interesting enough to keep me turning the pages. Sammy, the main character reminds me of the Stephanie Plum character in the series by Janet Evanovich. The plot though is not at all similar. The setting begins on Capitol Hill (Washington D. C.) I don't want to spoil any of it. Read it for yourself, and enjoy.

The book arrived today. It looks good and I will start it as soon as I finish my current book. Thanks for including me in this bookring.
I was a little disappointed in this book because I was hoping for Stephanie Plum. In my opinion, Sammy Joyce is more a Bridget Jones type. However, it was a good story and funny in places.
I have DonduckAndy's address and will get it in the mail on Monday.

Received book today 3/13/08. Will be reading shortly. Have 2 books lined up in my TBR pile to be read first. Then will pass this along to blackadder75
I actually tried to read this book but I stopped reading twice. First time after a 100 pages. Tried reading a second time for another 65 pages. I just couldn't stay with it. It had a lot of cute little incidents incurred in the story. I can't say it wasn't good, but it was just not my type of reading. I will be passing along to blackadder 75.
Got this from donduckandy today. I have two other bookrings/rays that I'm reading right now. Hope to get to this one in a week or so.
I took me awhile to get into this book. There was a lot of political talk, and I'm not that interested in politics. It was about halfway through the book that Sammy finally won me over to her story. There were some funny moments and some serious moments too. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking forward to reading the sequel. I will be pming NMReader and send the book on it's way soon.

Well even though the last few readers either couldn't get into it or just didn't like it I enjoyed it very much. After reading a number of heavy reads the past few weeks a light, funny, laugh-out-loud book was what I needed. I would compare her antics to Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series ... loved her calling the telemarketers, her medical obsessions, her pet fighting fish (and run in with the Korean spies), her bad choices in boyfriends and the quirky game of Asshole she played with her parents (who were classic in their own right). No complex plot I'll remember in a few months but I'm sure I'll see the cover again some day and a smile will cross my face and I'll remember a fun camping trip sitting under the oak trees in southern California laughing along with a fun book!
If I have time I'll get it in the mail today. Have the address of the next in line. Thanks for including me.
