Amazon Synopsis:
Somerset Maugham's satirical novel caused a storm of controversy when it was first published. It is a story of literary poseurs and a study of freedom, in which Maugham traces the fortunes of Edward Driffield and his extraordinary wife, Rosie.
I liked this one, much easier to read than I was expecting. Liked the representation of the classes & their associated snobbery.

Starting this one now. Sorry for the delay.
An enjoyable read. Pokes fun at class society in England and the (hypocritical) snobbery that comes with it. There were a few giggle-worthy lines.
Supposedly it's actually about Thomas Hardy and Hugh Walpole.
Sorry for having this one for so long. It's now on its way to jellyfish67.

Sorry for the late release, now on it's way to Birmingham.
Received today thanks
This was an easy enough read but not one that I loved. It was ok but I just didn't find it interesting enough to hold my attention for long.
I'm happy to have ticked another one off the list though so thanks for starting the ring Cally.
I've already asked for and received voveryte's address so will be posting this on asap.

Finished the book... Overall I can say I am pleased I had a chance to read this book, but it lost me several times, to be honest...
Anyway, thanks for a chance to read it and I'm going to post it as soon as I get Gooby's address

Arrived in today's mail. Thank you voveryte, and thank you cally-c for sharing.
Finally finished this one - been a bit distracted from my reading time of late. I'll wait until I've read 'The Interesting Narrative of Olaudah Equiano' and send them both on to Dave together.
Heading off to DaveMurray101 along with 'The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano'.

it's not quite Aldous Huxley but definitely a good example of the language and themes of the 1920s and '30s. Thanks again to Cally-c and posting on to Bug2004 as soon as I confirm an address.
