This is a World Book Night copy.

I've been wanting to read this series of books since watching the TV adaptation years ago which I loved. This first book introduces the various characters in particular the wonderful Anna Madrigal, landlady extraordinaire. A brilliant evocation of San Francisco at its liberal, crazy best.

NB - I've not read this yet but I've ended up with two copies so I'll come back and review later.
