The Woman in the Wall
4 journalers for this copy...
Anna is more than shy. She is nearly invisible. At seven, terrified of school, Anna retreats within the walls of her family's enormous house, and builds a world of passageways and hidden rooms. As the years go by, people forget she ever existed. Then a mysterious note is thrust through a crack in the wall, and Anna must decide whether or not to come out of hiding.
I thought this book was very profound. As someone who lives with agoraphobia, social anxiety and panic attacks, this resonated with me. Yes, written for a younger audience, but I think meaningful for adults as well. We all build our own prisons and think they aren't.
Sending as part of the 2018 Birthday Group . Enjoy!

I really enjoyed the first part of the book, as Anna fades into the background and tries to cope with social expectations (school!) The fantasy of living within the walls was also interesting, although I got a bit confused with the layout of the house at certain points.
The second half of the book deals a bit more with teen angst, which took away from the imaginary outlook the author had created.
A recommended read. Thanks for sending it my way lauraloo29
