*A Thousand Splendid Suns

This book has really made me think much more about Afghanistan and the human side of what is going on there - not just the politics (which I tend to switch off to). It's a beautifully written story, and like The Kite Runner (by the same author) not the happiest of tales. There's a bitter sweetness to it which leaves you feeling hopeful for the future, but at the same time a bit sad. It's certainly left me feeling much more appreciative of how lucky we are in the UK and with a renewed determination to make each day count.

Picked it up at the Doctors and was hooked within a couple of paragraphs. Am very much looking forward to reading it.
Caught this book at West End Doctor's surgery. Had read about five chapters in the waiting room before finally seeing the doctor! Thoroughly moving book. Really, really enjoyed it. Am releasing it back into the wild so somebody else can enjoy it!
