If you live in the southwest, you probably have a general awareness of water scarcity and water issues, but this book reveals how convoluted, competitive, and downright illogical the system has become. It's almost 20 years old now, so I'd love to see a follow-up book and see if any positive changes have been made in the intervening years. We're facing a bleak future when it comes to fresh water availability, but books like this help bring these issues to light. We can't protect resources if we don't know they're in danger.
