Hi, everyone! Just an update to let you know I'll be sending this box on early next week (and I'll journal it when I do). It's been raining nearly all week and I haven't wanted to get the box wet on a 30-minute walk to the post office! Anyway, just didn't want anyone to think it had gotten stalled.

Put this package in the mail this morning! It's on its way to ExemploDucemus. I apologize again for the delay, but I had a great time rifling through these treasures.

Also, I added "Lord of the Flies" and "Slaughterhouse-Five" to the mix, taking out "Go Ask Alice" and "Forever." Enjoy! :)

Received today. Perfect timing since I'm leaving for Thanksgiving soon.

I'll get this back out in the mail sometime next week. I'll have to find a new box for it.

I can't wait to dig through and make my selections. I'll list the books I've added/removed later.

OK,

I took out Fahrenheit 451 and To Kill a Mockingbird.

I'm adding:
The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things (4th most banned book of 2006)

The Valley of the Horses (series is #19 on The 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990–1999)

Call Waiting by R.L. Stein (author is #9 on Top Ten Challenged Authors 1990 to 2004)

Then Again, Maybe I Won't by Judy Blume (The most frequently challenged author in 2005)

The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds by Paul Zindel (Author is #14 on The most frequently challenged authors in 2000) This is a Pulitzer Prize winning play.

I already have the next participant's address and I plant get this out in the mail this week. I'll edit this with the DC number at that time.

I really enjoyed this box. If you decide to do a Round 2, I'd like to be included.

**ETA--This is Jenptcfan. I forgot I was logged in under my OBCZ's ID. Sorry for any confusion.

Journal Entry 13 by lostbookisland on Sunday, March 02, 2008

This book has not been rated.

This book has washed ashore at the Lost Book Island after not being heard from for many months. This new arrival will be shown to a room and be allowed a bit of rest before being introduced to the many fun things to do here at the island.

All around there are books sipping cool drinks under shady palms while other books participate in a wide variety of beach sports. There is plenty of sand, surf and sun here for all of the lost and wayward books to enjoy.

It is hoped that very soon a new journal entry will come to rescue this book from the island and send it back out into the BookCrossing world so that it may continue on its journey. It is hoped that the new journal entry will tell all the interested parties where this book has been this long time and where it will be traveling to next.

Journal Entry 15 by HeresDeb from Grayslake, Illinois USA on Monday, May 12, 2008

This book has not been rated.

I received the box this past week. I had trouble finding books to put in it, because it seems like I owned every banned book that Bluestocking88 had started the box with! I certainly didn't want to send copies of the same books back to her. So I visited some bookstores this week and hopefully found some NEW reading material for you :-)

Taking out:
--Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene
--Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe
--Go Ask Alice by Anonymous

Putting in:
--Beach Music by Pat Conroy
--The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B. Cooney (The sequel to this is already in the box.)
--The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy

RELEASE NOTES:

This box is on its way back home! Thank you so much Bluestocking88 for starting this bookbox. I got new material and also learned something along the way. I hadn't realized how many books are banned and why.

I hope you find some interesting new reading material as well. Happy Reading :-)

And home again home again, jiggity jog. Thank you to everyone for keeping this moving and seeing it home safely. How nice that the box looks completely different than when it left here in September. I have a lot of reading to do. I hope to start a round two in the fall, so please let me know if you are interested.

I love the journal, that's a keeper!
