This book is not in the best shape, but I am sending it to moonblue to fulfil a wish. Enjoy!
Thanks a lot gomboggit. I love Lurie's books but have not read this one yet. I was glad to read that it was not in good shape, I was a bit worried that it had got damaged in transit (it seemed to take a very long time to get here).
I look forward to reading this.

Another bookcrosser has asked to read this, so it will move to the top of the TBR pile. Hopefully will get to it soon and then send to ekke.
It took me ages to get to this book, and then I didn't want to stop reading. I really love Alison Lurie, and this is one of her best books.
Set in Depression era America, 5 grown-ups, two children and a teenager spend a long weekend at a country cottage. The two young girls are intrigued, exasperated and then rather frightened as the complex relationships between the adults cause them to act increasingly like children.
There are three narrative voices in the novel - a third person neutral voice, and then from the perspective of each of two children in the story. It is so interesting, she is still writing third person, but captures the way each child would record the story.
