The first of the Alaska mysteries by Sue Henry.
The winner of Alaskas world-famous Iditarod - a grueling, eleven-hundred-mile dog sled race across a frigid Arctic wilderness - takes home a $ 250000 purse. But this year, the price is survival.
Only the toughest and most able come to compete in this annual torturous test of endurance, sill and courage. Now, suddenly and inexpectably, the top Iditarod contestants are dying one by one in bizarre and gruesome ways. Jessie Arnold, Alaskas female "musher" fears she might be the next victim. Dedicated Alaska State Trooper Alex Jensen is determinated to track down the murderer before more innocent blood stains the pristine Alaskan snow...

GREAT ! One of the best books I ever read (ok, I have to tell I read about the Iditarod race before and found the idea of the book great before I read the first pages ..) ! But now I am following up the serie of books with Jessie Arnold, and I am enjoying every one. I copy every word of the Publishers Weekly comment : "Enthralling.. Sue Henry provides suspense and exitement in this paean to great sporting event and to the powerful Alaskan landscape".

Buch ist gut angekommen, vielen Dank!

At the beginning I had problems to get inside the story. I often had to reread pages to keep up with the special vocabulary and the many names. Although the murder case and the end weren't very surprising it was interesting to learn about the race (I had heard of the serum run before and wondered why it was mentioned so late in the book).
I'm not sure if I'd like to read another book of this series - too much snow for my taste ;-)

I read the book in chapters every night, because I had no time to read in daytime!!I,too, had problems with the many ,very similar, names, but it is a solid mystery, and interesting because I learned a lot about the Iditarod-Race.
If I find other 'cases' I will read them! Thank you for this ring!!
It'll travel on to DA-Cameron tomorrow.

27. 12. 2007:
I enjoyed the book very much - so much, in fact, that I've already ordered another two from the series. I love snow, and I'd love to go to Alaska myself. And I found the information about the race highly interesting.

Finished the book yesterday - it was really a "page-turner" :-) Really enjoyed reading the book, liked the settings, Alaska, snow, people... Only one point I didn't like - the end was to fast - could have read more pages ;-)

Already sent it on its way to Falmouth this morning :)

Journal Entry 10 by Falmouth from Remscheid, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Thursday, May 15, 2008
Already here! It will have to wait a while though, as I'm reading another BIG book for the time being where I have another 700 pages to go ...

------------------------

A very enjoyable book with fascinating details of the Iditarod Race! While reading the mystery I kept referring to the map in the front of the book, which made me feel like I was really following the events along the trail. It makes an easy read and the plot is thoroughly interesting, plus a nice combination of love and mystery. At least for me it was difficult to put down. Really can recommend it!!!

Will go to Haltestelle as soon as possible.

On its way to Haltestelle, June 5th, 2008
