The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón is one of those books I felt I ought to read, then when I saw it mentioned by Kate Mosse in Labyrinth (see BCID 5422442) as suggested reading, I knew I had to go out and buy a copy.
I looked in one charity shop, Heart Foundation, and they tried to rip me off by charging £2-50 for a dog-eared copy, then the next day I found a brand new copy in the Red Cross charity shop for 50p.
Rip-offs by charity shops is leaving a nasty taste in everyones mouth. Heart Foundation and Oxfam are two of the worst offenders. Greed writ large!
When will they learn that if they charge less, they will shift more and make more money.
What is even worse, is if they do not shift their stock after two weeks, they throw it out, some even deliberately destroy books.
