Getting Rid of Matthew

Part of the Richard and Judy Summer Reads 2007, given to me by a colleague.
Picked this up whilst procrastinating about my packing, what a mistake! It distracted me at home, then kept me awake while waiting for my oh-my-god-hundred flight. Just what the doctor ordered.
There are lots of books about mistresses, but this is the first that I have come across where the mistress realises the mistake she has made when her lover finally admits all to his wife and moves in. Helen is a likeable person, one who has almost fallen into this relationship with a married man. As she tries in various ways to get Matthew to go back to his wife (not shaving legs, withholding sex, etc.) she arranges an impromptu meeting with Sophie, Matthew's wife. This is where it gets complicated, not willing to say who she really is, Helen invents an alter-ego, one that becomes friends and even a confidante to Sophie.
To say any more would ruin this book, but I hope others enjoy it as I did.
