Outside Passage: A Memoir of an Alaskan Childhood
2 journalers for this copy...
Story of a girl, her sister and mother living in San Francisco and then in Alaska. Financial problems force the family's separation, and the subsequent reunion is difficult.
While not always a happy story, it is engaging. I could not stop reading because I needed to know what happened.
This is my first book to register.

A quick read, and unique story, well written, but fits the category of an "Oprah" book to me, because it was heavy and depressing. It is undeniably a good book, but I didn't "enjoy" it. I like to be challenged by a good book, but I don't generally pick books that are depressing. I bought the book at a Wellspring, a charity bookshop in Hull, MA, and I left it in my hotel room at the Bravo Beach Hotel in Isabel, Vieques, Puerto Rico January 14, 2007, as a "swap" for a paperback in the room. The cover of the book had serious coffee stains. I wonder how long the book hung around the Brueggers before it got donated to Wellspring!
